Affliction Trilogy Barnett vs. Fedor preview
The Savage Science has a Fedor vs. Barnett preview for their fight at Affliction Trilogy.
Instead of putting all of his tactical eggs in one basket, Barnett should hone his striking skills to compliment his mastery of ground fighting and submissions. He should commit to a methodical and cautious approach to the start of the fight, looking to get a feel for his opponent and landing strikes if the opportunity presents itself while not putting himself too much at risk.

Station Casinos financial woes–could it hurt the UFC?
And why isn’t the media reporting it? Lengthy blog post at THE SAVAGE SCIENCE reports on the financial problems of Station Casinos and, more importantly, wonders why the sports and MMA media just ignores anything negative about the UFC:

Ozzy Osbourne to rock Affliction: Day of Reckoning
Ozzy Freakin’ Osbourne in the house on 10/11/08 at Affliction: Day of Reckoning….
Continuing the lofty standard of metallic excellence set by the inclusion of MEGADETH at their debut Banned show, Affliction has enlisted former Black Sabbath frontman and mega million selling solo artist Ozzy Osbourne as the musical guest for their October 11th Day of Reckoning event. The “Godfather of Heavy Metal” will provide a fitting accompaniment for the promotion’s second MMA event to be headlined by a WAMMA #1 heavyweight contender matchup between Andrei Arlovski and Josh Barnett (a huge metal fan himself).
Since the announcement of Day of Reckoning, speculation within the heavy metal community has swirled around the identity of the musical guest. Megadeth, whose United Abominations album was considered by many aficionados as the best metal release of 2007, is obviously a tough act to follow. Not surprisingly, speculation centered on a number of bands who already have a relationship with Affliction including Korn, L.A. punk/metal pioneers Suicidal Tendencies, and The Deftones along with New Haven, CT metal juggernaut Hatebreed and the band who “reigns in blood” as arguably the champions of the genre, much as Fedor rules the heavyweight MMA realm, Slayer.
