Mark Cuban set to announce new MMA promotion…

Mark Cuban will be at a press conference scheduled for Dallas on Wednesday to announce the creation of his new MMA promotion, HDNet Fights. In addition to the announcement of the promotion’s creation a press release indicated that the 2 fighters who’ll headline the first card will also be in attendance. No indication that one of them will be Fedor Emelianenko, nor are there any indications as of now that Cuban’s group has signed the Russian fighting cyborg. Fedor’s last meeting with the UFC people didn’t go well at all, nor was there any significance in his attendance at UFC 75 in London at least in terms of his contractual status. Cuban obviously has the money to outbid anyone, so it wouldn’t surprise me to see Fedor end up fighting in Dallas. At this point it sure appears that Cuban’s group and K-1/Heroes are the only viable options.

Cuban has hired former UFC and PRIDE competitor Guy Mezger to head up the promotion.
