Don Frye in street fight this weekend….

Don FryeDon “The Predator” Frye, a legitimate MMA legend and one of the baddest men walking the face of the earth, was in a street fight this weekend after he was sucker punched by the bodyguard of Leland Chapman, aka the offspring of “Dog the Bounty Hunter”. Little Dog’s bounty hunter apparently wasn’t hired for his “street smarts” since he called out and then sucker punched a guy on the short list of the people I’d *least* like to have mad at me. Despite being three sheets to the wind, Frye–who has one of the best chins in MMA and has been hit by the best–executed a perfect single leg takedown and then start raining down punches on the bodyguard from the top mount. There’s version of the story where Frye was pulled off the hapless bodyguard at this point, and another version where Dog’s kid and his bodyguard ran off after former All Japan Pro Wrestling superstar and another serious badass, Scott Norton, came to join the fray on Frye’s behalf.

The primary question I have is why the hell is Dog’s kid rolling with a “bodyguard” anyway? Aren’t bodyguards supposed to prevent trouble, not go looking for it? And how dumb do you have to be to call out Frye, even if he is bombed? The correct response should you encounter a drunk Don Frye at the bar is not to antagonize him but this–”May I buy you a drink Mr. Frye?”. At least he didn’t make fun of Frye’s ‘stache or his uncanny resemblance to Magnum P.I. We’ll keep you updated. If you’re not familar with Don Frye here’s the video preview from his PRIDE fight against Gary Goodrich. Fast forward it to the 2:00 mark and you’ll see why Frye is not a guy to be messed with.
