in between fight stuff…
They’re showing the David Heath/Tim Boetsch fight from earlier. Boetsch took this fight on 10 days notice. Anyway, I’m hoping the wino who’s sleeping/drinking/shooting up/masturbating in the bathroom clears out soon so I can piss before the Lesnar/Mir fight. That’s one of the funny things about Portland–winos/homeless/bums or whatever you want to call them are a protected species here. Now I’m not talking people try to help the homeless, there’s shelters for them or whatever–I’ve talked to hobos/tramps/homeless dudes or whatever you want to call them and a number have told me that their fellow “street people” actually travel from all over the west braving the rain of the Pacific Northwest to take up “residence” in Portland and Seattle. Anyway, they don’t bother me one way or the other except for the guy who’s been in the bathroom for the past 45 minutes and counting. If anything you do in a public restroom takes more than a half hour you need to mix in a trip to a clinic.
One of the problems is that so many dudes in Portland–especially older dudes–cultivate a homeless “look” be it wittingly or unwittingly. Just because a guy looks like he’s slept in his clothes for a week, has an unkept beard with leaves and food in it, shuffles around with a downtrodden expression and sleeps in public its no guarantee that he’s homeless. In Seattle its a pretty easy giveaway–you just check out their gadgets. Faux-homeless roll with iPods and Blackberries while the real homeless don’t. Portland is different–its a bitch trying to figure out the homeless from the non-homeless by appearance. I’m pretty sure the Santa Claus were he a recovering meth addict looking guy sitting behind me is a homeless guy, unless he’s been sleeping in a septic tank. I don’t know where else you can pick up such a strong reek of urine.
Mike Goldberg is still trying to get us excited about the Nog/Sylvia fight but Brock Lesnar v. Frank Mir is up next. This ought to be entertaining…..if you think Lesnar is a joke read through my article for a dissenting view. Rogan trying to pump up Mir’s skills now–he is a skilled dude, but he’s not exactly a conditioning junkie. Lesnar is a freak–he had to cut to make 265 and will enter the ring around 280-285. Final Tapout poll has UFC fans picking Lesnar 55% to 45%. I’m thinking this fight is going to surprise the hell out of a lot of people–I’m going to remain objective in my commentary but if you want to know what I think check out my article at http://www.fantasyinsideronline.com. If I’m wrong I’ll own up to it, but if I’m right I’ll gloat about it. Mir may have more standup experience but if he thinks he’s going to *dominate* this monster in the standup he’s got another thing coming….
